In recent breaking news, “Jesus Revolution” and “Super Mario Bros Movie,” coupled with actors Dennis Quaid and Lori Loughlin, have been celebrated as top achievers at the 31st annual Movieguide Faith & Values Awards Gala. The event is centered around recognizing exceptional movies and television which foster family values and uphold faith principles.

Hosted by Trevor Donovan and Danica McKellar from Great American Family, the showcase was held on February 9th at the iconic Avalon Theatre in Hollywood. It made its public debut on Great American Family’s platform on March 7th.

Among the awards distributed, “Super Mario Bros Movie” was proclaimed Best Family Movie while “A Paris Christmas Waltz” received accolades as Best Family TV. In the category of mature audiences, “Jesus Revolution” was honoured as Best Movie and an episode titled ‘New Life’ from “Chicago P.D.” bagged rewards as Best TV for Mature Audiences.

The esteemed Faith & Freedom Award for Movies catering to themes of freedom and faith was awarded to Jim Caviezel starrer “Sound of Freedom,” whereas Prime Video’s popular show, “A Million Miles Away”, won this accolade in TV series section. Further amplifying this celebration of talent were performances amplifying God’s grace, The Grace Prize. This was awarded to Dennis Quaid for “On a Wing and a Prayer” and Lori Loughlin for “A Christmas Blessing” in their respective capacity.

As she accepted her award, Loughlin shared her gratitude stating how she loves making movies and feels truly blessed being able to do what she loves. A captivating music performance by Quaid himself along with Grammy-nominated artist Blessing Offor charged up the event that concluded with a thoughtfully delivered prayer led by Candace Cameron Bure.

The year 2023 marked a highly successful phase for inspiring films and heartening television series grounded on faith. Among these, Lionsgate’s “Jesus Revolution,” featuring Kelsey Grammer that opened up in theaters early in 2023, accumulated a remarkable $52 million domestically and received an A+ CinemaScore grade from viewers. Other movies that had a standout performance include Angel Studio’s “Sound of Freedom” which grossed close to $250 million worldwide, giving stiff competition to the likes of hefty big-budget films like “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.”

Meanwhile, “A Million Miles Away,” which starred Michael Peña, Rosa Salazar, and Julio César Cedillo narrates the real-life story of devout Christian José Hernández. From humble beginnings as a migrant to ultimately becoming a NASA astronaut, this inspiring movie earned several award nominations along with capturing the No. 1 spot on Amazon Prime for many weeks and raking in a stellar audience score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
