This week, according to Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the media and Democratic politicians are making concerted efforts to suppress the fact that the individual believed to have murdered a Georgia college student last week is an illegal immigrant. Cruz suggests this evasion is rooted in the left’s perception of illegal immigrants as potential voters for the Democratic Party.

Last Friday, Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old Venezuelan man and purportedly illegal alien was arrested for allegedly killing Laken Riley. Reports state that her skull was severely damaged during a brutal attack that took place on February 22nd. Riley’s deceased body was found subsequently in woodland.

During a recent interview on Wednesday, when questioned why news outlets are avoiding mention of the suspect’s legal status as an undocumented migrant who entered U.S. territory during President Joe Biden’s border crisis—dubbed the most severe unlawful immigration crisis in American history—Cruz responded critically.

He said: “The media and Democrats support our current open borders condition. They perceive all these estimated 10.6 million illegal immigrants who crossed under Biden’s watch as prospective Democrat voters. So if it means collateral damage occurs – people dying, children being assaulted or women raped – they appear to be willing to accept that.”

As extreme as Cruz’s assertion may sound, it can’t be denied that this appalling event brings heightened attention to real news around border control and immigration policies – topics that hold significant implications for national security with far-reaching international impacts from a Christian Worldview perspective.

Additionally, Cruz expressed his concerns around homeland security referring back to historical events: “Today in America,” he explains “the odds we have another major terrorist attack are higher than at any point since September 11th, 2001.” He elaborated by citing anecdotes shared by Border Patrol agents about potential threats from Hamas and Hezbollah operatives infiltrating US soil, attempting mass violence akin to October 7th.
